GeoMuseums and exhibitions
In the UNESCO Global Geopark Thuringia Inselsberg - Drei Gleichen you can find numerous exhibitions, each with a local emphasis. Discover the fossilised fauna of a Rotliegend lake from the Gottlob and compare it with the recent fauna of the Cumbach lakes in the GeoInformationcentre at the Marienglashöhle.
The Nature Park exhibition at the Grosser Inselsberg offers insights into the recent and fossil environments of the Grosser Inselsberg and presents interesting and astonishing facts about geological and biological aspects of the peak and its surrounding. From the observation deck you will have a breathtaking view of the Thuringian landscape.
The Tourist- and Nature Park information in Ruhla comes up with an interactive exhibition dealing with the geology around Ruhla. In an artificial visitors cave you can go underground.
Visitors interested in minerals and ores will be in good hands in the exhibition mine "Hühn" in Brotterode-Trusetal. Here you can marvel iron ore, spar and copper minerals.
The new GeoMuseum at Schloss Ehrenstein Ohrdruf shows a new geological exhibition about the work of the Muschelkalk collector and local historian Studienrat Julius Böttcher and takes you into the exciting living world of the former Muschelkalk sea. Discover "cobblestone dinosaurs", predatory bastard lizards, cephalopods, crinoids and much more!
