The Thuringian State Office for Environment, Mining and Nature Conservation (TLUBN) supports the Geopark as a funding authority in the development of its geotourism objectives and is the point of contact for all geoscientific issues, in particular geotope protection.


The Naturpark Thüringer Wald e.V. and the UNESCO Global Geopark Thüringen Inselsberg - Drei Gleichen support each other closely in tourism marketing and regional development as well as in the protection of animate and inanimate nature. The Naturpark Thüringer Wald e.V. promotes the natural development of the Thuringian Forest as a sustainable recreational region and supports the Geopark in the acquisition of funding. The Geopark is responsible for establishing gentle geotourism to complement the existing tourist potential.

 


The UNESCO Global Geopark Thuringia Inselsberg - Drei Gleichen is working with the Thuringian Forest/Gothaer Land e.V. tourism association to develop new marketable offers in the nature, hiking and cycling tourism segments as well as in the area of information and educational offers with a popular science focus and organises participation in trade fairs and other events to promote joint project-related marketing.


The close cooperation between the Regionalverbund Thüringer Wald e.V. and the UNESCO Global Geopark Thüringen Inselsberg - Drei Gleichen consists of the comprehensive marketing of the region through the establishment of geotourism offers including the Geopark in the tourist destination "Thuringian Forest". The Geopark is part of the product brand "Naturregion Biosphäre Thüringer Wald".


The UNESCO Global Geopark Ore of the Alps in Austria has been a partner of the Geopark Thuringia Inselsberg - Drei Gleichen for over 10 years. The aim of the cooperation is to exchange experiences on the subject of intergenerational knowledge transfer, education and research, particularly in education for sustainable development (ESD) and climate-related topics.


The Chelmos-Vouraikos UNESCO Global Geopark has been a partner of the UNESCO Global Geopark Thuringia Inselsberg - Drei Gleichen since 2021. The Geoparks are cooperating with the University of Jena in a joint research project to investigate aquatic faunas in caves.


The National Geopark Porphyrland e.V. and the UNESCO Global Geopark Thuringia Inselsberg - Drei Gleichen, together with the UNESCO Global Geopark Ore of the Alps, are linked by a long-standing LEADER cooperation with the projects geoWERT and geoPLUS, with the aim of developing strategies on the topics of geo and raw materials expertise, geo&wellness and geo&pleasure.


The Friedenstein Foundation Gotha is a project partner in the research project "Opening up science - new ways of knowledge transfer using the example of the "BROMACKER" research project. In addition, the Geopark is closely linked to the Friedenstein Castle Foundation through geological and palaeontological research in the entire Thuringian Forest and the Drei Gleichen region.


The Friedrich Schiller University Jena (FSU), together with the Friedenstein Foundation Gotha and the Museum für Naturkunde - Leibniz Institute for Evolution and Biodiversity Research in Berlin, is a co-operation partner in the research project "Opening up science - new ways of knowledge transfer using the example of the "BROMACKER" research project". The co-operation also includes the planning and implementation of student excursions and the co-supervision of qualification work in the entire Geopark area.


The Museum für Naturkunde - Leibniz Institute for Evolution and Biodiversity Research in Berlin, together with the FSU Jena and the Friedenstein Foundation Gotha, is a co-operation partner in the research project "Opening up science - new ways of transferring knowledge using the example of the "BROMACKER" research project.


Leipzig University and the UNESCO Global Geopark Thuringia Inselsberg - Drei Gleichen have been working together since 2013 to carry out scientific and student research into the natural features of the Geopark area, so that the results can be used both for scientific work at Leipzig University and for the development of geotourism offers in the Geopark.


The Kneipp-Landesverband Thüringen e.V. in Bad Tabarz and the UNESCO Global Geopark Thüringen Inselsberg - Drei Gleichen work closely together in the area of nature and environmental education as well as in the promotion of health and nature tourism in the Geopark.


GEOfood is an initiative for communities and environmentally friendly food businesses in the UNESCO Global Geoparks. It originated in the Magma UNESCO Global Geopark in Norway, but is now an independent label for sustainable and regional food production and marketing. There are several businesses in the Geopark area that are certified with the GEOfood label.


The UVMB and the Geopark work closely together in the areas of local raw materials, mining, environmental education and public relations and aim to achieve sustainable economic development at regional level through their co-operation. The aim of the cooperation is to highlight the economic importance of local raw materials for regional development, to develop awareness of raw materials and to maintain the mining tradition as well as to make it possible to experience geological processes in the sense of sustainable geotourism. The UVMB is a financial supporter of the Geopark.
