Nature Discovery Trail "Am Breitenberg"
GeoRoute 10
The nature experience trail is a circular walk of about 2.4 kilometres and is located at the 697-metre high Breitenberg, the highest mountain in Ruhla. It winds around the mountain for about 6 kilometres. The slopes of the Breitenberg are covered with spruce, beech and 200-year-old oak trees. Adjacent meadows, a small stream and a rocky area provide diverse habitats. The nature discovery trail offers suggestions for action, for "grasping", and conveys educational texts about fauna, flora and habitats through display boards. The "Classroom in the Green" is the place for nature-oriented lessons. There is a playground and many restful places with a beautiful view. Adults and children can experience nature together with all their senses. The starting point is the tourist information office at Neuer Markt 1 in Ruhla.
Hints:
Please note that the activities on the nature discovery trail have been repaired and modernised. The stations therefore do not always correspond to the offers shown in the route leaflet. A new route leaflet is currently being planned and will be available here after completion.
