Metal Craft Museum Steinbach-Hallenberg

The Metal Craft Museum Steinbach-Hallenberg is a museum of technical and cultural history. The focus is on the history of iron processing, as the most important branch of industry in the region. Three historical workshops – nail smithy, corkscrew workshop and file smithy – authentically depict the state of the art of past centuries, when the forge, bellows and anvil with various jigs, hammers, tongs and other material were part of the basic equipment of the local blacksmiths.

In a modern and interactive new permanent exhibition, the museum provides information about the way of life and customs of the inhabitants of the Haseltal, whose livelihood was based on metal crafts and agriculture. Here, guests can learn all sorts of interesting facts about dialect, old traditions, flax processing and the farming sideline. With the help of various interactive terminals, history is brought to life and the working and living conditions are vividly conveyed.

Come and visit! The team of the Metal Craft Museum is looking forward to your visit.
