The Bromacker is a world-renowned fossil site for early Permian vertebrates, which are preserved here three-dimensionally and often completely. The terrestrial ecosystem with many herbivores and few predators (similar to today) and the possibility to find trace fossils and their producers side by side makes this site so unique and significant compared to other fossil sites of similar age. The BROMACKER between Tambach-Dietharz and Georgenthal lies in the middle of the UNESCO Global Geopark Thuringia Inselsberg - Drei Gleichen and is the subject of current research work with the BROMACKER project of the Museum für Naturkunde Berlin, the Stiftung Schloss Friedenstein Gotha, the University of Jena and the UNESCO Geopark itself. The aim of the project is not only to explore the Permian habitat and environment, but above all to transfer knowledge between the researchers and the local population. Here you can experience research at first hand!
We would like to present the BROMACKER project to you here.
