25 curious pupils and their two teachers from Gotha's Ernestinum grammar school learned a lot of interesting facts about the evolution of the early saurians. Together with Geopark geologist Stephan Brauner and Silvia Kolomaznik, they hiked from Georgenthal along the Saurian DiscoveryTrail (GeoRoute 6) to the BROMACKER research and fossil site. In the process, the fifth and sixth graders learned the basics of geology, e.g. knowledge about continental drift or the development of palaeontology as a science. But they also talked about current topics such as neophytes and neozoa, i.e. plant and animal species introduced from other countries.
