2nd BROMACKER research drilling starts on 2 August 2023

Tambach-Dietharz

The time has come! On Wednesday, 2 August 2023, the heavy drilling rig of Bohr- und Umwelttechnik GmbH from Caaschwitz will arrive on the Gallberg near Tambach-Dietharz and start sinking the second research borehole within the BROMACKER project. The researchers expect to gain important scientific insights into the formation of the Tambach basin and will be able to create a detailed model of the basin's development with the new drilling cores.

From now until the completion of the drilling, visitors will have the opportunity to take part in a guided tour led by staff of the Friedrich Schiller University Jena every Wednesday at 2 p.m. and learn more about the drilling technology as well as the geotechnical and geoscientific work. But also outside the guided tours, the employees of the company BOG will be happy to answer your questions about the drilling process at any time.

On Saturday, 5 August 2023, an Open Drilling Day will take place parallel to the Family Day in Tambach-Dietharz. Guided tours of the drilling site and a colourful programme for children and adults await you. The physical well-being will be well catered for.
