Tradition meets modernity - Miners' Day 2022 in Brotterode-Trusetal

By Juliane Eck and Thomas Kaebel, Brotterode-Trusetal

Together with young and old, we celebrated Miners' Day at the "Hühn" visitor mine in Trusetal on 3 July 2022. The approx. 500 visitors experienced a varied, entertaining and informative day with many surprises.

Especially for the children there was a lot on offer. Besides a bouncy castle, pony rides and face painting, the little visitors went on a treasure hunt. The Klondike am Hühn hides many secrets that can only be uncovered with effort. The children and their helpers were not deterred by this and went home with small treasures afterwards.

The programme and the guided tours became more traditional. The visitors marvelled at the various miners' uniforms during a fashion show. The choir and DJ Ringo provided the musical accompaniment. The sun shone brightly in honour of the day. The guided tours through the gallery, accompanied by real miners, were the highlight of the festival. The attention to detail and the enormous knowledge about the mine make these tours a unique experience that, if you were not there for Miners' Day, you should not miss in the future. Many guests praised the event and were already looking forward to the next Miner's Day at the "Hühn" visitor mine.

With this in mind, we say a hearty "Glück Auf!" And see you very soon!
