On 2. July 2022, the annual stag beetle festival of the Natura2000-Station Gotha-Ilmkreis took place again at Gleichen Castle. Numerous excursions were offered on this day. Our Geopark geologist was also able to inspire numerous children and took the guests into the world of saurians. Real dinosaur bones are always recovered by palaeontologists in the immediate vicinity of Gleichen Castle. Highlights of the festival were the multivision show by Mr. Hock about the natural treasures of the Drei Gleichen region and the stag beetles, which could be observed up close in the evening directly on the castle grounds.
