Kittelsthal Dripstone Cave is open again

After more than two years of corona-related rest, the Kittelsthal Dripstone Cave was reopened on the Day of German Unity 2022. After the cave celebrated its 30th anniversary of reopening in 1992 on 11 September 2022, its success story, which is closely linked to the cave guide Peter Jäger, can be continued. Peter Jäger has now passed the baton to his successor, geoscientist Jonathan Harjes. The young scientist is just as enthusiastic about the cave as his predecessor and, in addition to regular guided tours for visitors, also wants to supervise scientific excursions and projects and work closely with the UNESCO Global Geopark Thuringia Inselsberg - Drei Gleichen and the Thuringian Forest Nature Park.

200 steps lead down into the depths of the Kittelsthal Dripstone Cave. In the old barite mine, visitors can trace the mining of the past and admire stalactites and sinter structures in the 250-million-year-old Zechstein reef limestone. Let yourself be inspired by the beauty of the cave, the geology and the exciting mining history.
